A Look Under the Hood
|
Digital Curriculum is One of the Major ATI Development and Research Activities for 2014-2015
Why? There is a pressing need for customized curriculum development in Arizona because the standards to which curriculum must be designed are undergoing rapid and continual change and the need to respond to this change is immediate. ATI is currently serving over 80% of the Districts and Charters in the State and it is our responsibility to innovate in the service of our partners so that they can innovate in ways that work best locally. Prediction? Because of the multiple benefits of digital access, it is highly likely that the need for and use of customized digital curriculum will increase dramatically in the near future. Overall, districts nationwide are investing increasingly more on educational software and digital content (e.g., $7.97 billion during the 2011-12). One of ATI’s clients, Boston Public Schools, for example, just purchased 10,000 Chromebook laptops. Our goal is to increase the utility of Galileo for Arizona without increasing the costs so we treat this activity as an enhancement provided to our partners.
